Marisol lives in Tabio, Colombia, about two hours outside of Bogotá. She was working as an industrial designer in 1998, when she fell in love with the technique of coiling wool and wire to create her whimsical characters.
In 2006, Marisol started her company. It has since grown to include a large following in the Colombian crafts market as well as customers in the U.S. and parts of Europe.
Marisol’s team consists of single mothers from the Colombian countryside. These women are able to support their families with the wages they earn working with Marisol. Just as importantly, they also experience the satisfaction of transforming simple materials into beautiful crafts with their own hands.
