See Lake Geneva Up Close

Enjoy as many of the 26 miles of shoreline as you like on the Lake Path. You’ll encounter as many styles of homes and design as you will trail surfaces. Photo courtesy of Visit Lake Geneva.

The Basics

Experience Duration

Entirely up to you! You can walk as long as you like. Just keep in mind if you're not planning to walk all 26 miles and you haven't parked someone else's car along the way, you'll need to budget time and energy to turn around.

Where To Access The Path

The easiest place to start by heading to the Public Library in Lake Geneva and walking in either direction about one mile. Watch as the path bends around the shore and behind a house to begin your journey. There are public access points along the path in other communities including Fontana and Williams Bay.

What To Expect

You are walking through people's yards in peak season. You will encounter other walkers, as well as residents and their pets enjoying their outdoor spaces. You may at times cross through lakeshore clubs that have more of an apparent, exclusive vibe. Stick to the path and enjoy your day! The path is not always paved. You will walk on a variety of surfaces from gravel, to flagstones, to wooden board walks, to dirt trails. Prepare accordingly.

What To Bring

Be sure to wear safe and supportive footwear. A few of us have done the path in very informal footwear, but proper sneakers, trail runners or boots will keep you safe and enhance your experience. Pack snacks, meals, sunscreen, and your camera if those apply to your journey!
